Military Policy
Temporary memberships (3 months maximum) will be granted at no charge to any serviceman or woman either on military leave or preparing to go into the service or returning to the area from military service. Families of any serviceman or woman stationed out of the area will be granted either a single Parent Family, Adult, or Youth membership for the membership year(s) their spouse/parent is gone. The rates for these memberships will be frozen at the 2005 level.
Can My Child Come Play at the YMCA If
I Am Not a Member?
Yes, your child can come enjoy our facilities by purchasing a daily pass for $4.
The Play Park is not available to children without a current membership
card, and children must be 14 to go upstairs to the weight equipment. Consider purchasing a Youth Membership
for your child - just $107 annually or $10.50 per month after an initial payment of
$17.50.
Payment Plans
All YMCA memberships are sold on an annual basis, but there are two payment plans
available. You may choose to pay your annual membership in full via check, cash, VISA,
Discover, American Express, or MasterCard; or you may make an initial payment and
authorize the YMCA to make 11 monthly withdrawals from your account at any U.S. bank or
financial institution.
Corporate
Memberships
Several area companies have Corporate Memberships with our YMCA.
If you work for one of these companies, you can save money on your
YMCA membership dues by receiving the corporate membership rate. In
most cases, your employer will pay a portion of your membership dues
in addition to the corporate discount. Check with us or your employer
for more details!
Membership Cards
Your membership card grants you access to the facility and allows you to use a locker during your visit. Children must present a membership
card to check out Playstations. The cards themselves remain the property of the Grand
River Area Family YMCA. Please carry your card with you and show it upon entering the Y.
Cards are not transferable; and, loaned cards will be confiscated and membership
privileges may be rescinded. We ask your cooperation as staff seek to maintain a
reasonable security system.
Partner With Youth Campaign
The YMCA philosophy is that no one be denied access to Y
memberships or programs due to an inability to pay the fees. We have a scholarship program
which provides funds to children and/or adults from lower income households. Charitable
gifts made to the YMCA Partner with Youth Campaign provide funding for the scholarship
program as well as helping to underwrite the costs of youth football, wrestling, swimming,
track, basketball, and gymnastics programs. It also funds the Y-PALS
and the After School Club programs. Contributions to the Partner with Youth campaign are
tax deductible as allowed by law. Click

YMCA Has Increase in Membership This
Year
C-T article 01 09 07, Megan Neis
The Grand River Area Family YMCA has received many new members in 2007,
perhaps many people following up on those resolutions to shed a few extra
pounds this year. According to Dave Rogers, executive director of the YMCA, 70 people have
joined since the first day of the new year and 32 people signed up on New Yearıs Day.
Rogers reported that an increase in YMCA members at the beginning of a new
year is fairly usual. The local YMCA now has a total of 3,911 members. The YMCA is always looking for new members and according to Rogers, they
anticipate even more members for the Get Fit Challenge the YMCA is sponsoring with the Constitution-Tribune newspaper.
The Get Fit Challenge is a 12-week weight loss challenge and over 300 people
are participating in the joint effort between the newspaper and the YMCA. Participants are required to weigh-in at the YMCA each week and weekly
standings will be published in the newspaper. The challenge will continue until March 30 and the first place winner will receive $300 and a 1-year
membership to the YMCA, second place will receive $200, and third place will
receive a 1-year subscription to the YMCA.
The YMCA organization started in Chillicothe in 1989 but 2007 will be the
15th year for the YMCA building. The biggest change since 1992 when the doors first opened, has been in 1999 when the Browning Gymnasium was added,
along with a gymnastics center, activities center and weight room.
