Calling all middle school and high school athletes! Are you looking to take your game to the next level?  Our new Athletic Performance Training program can help you improve critical aspects of your performance by focusing on five main components:

  • Dynamic warmups, mobility, and stretch routines
  • Speed and agility development
  • Power, strength, and sport specific endurance training
  • Core stability and balance training
  • Emphasis on safety and injury prevention

Tailored specifically for young athletes, Athletic Performance Training provides various strength and conditioning exercises and plyometric training. Workouts include the use of specialized equipment such as free weights, medicine balls, strength bands, hurdles, and BOSU balls. If you want to be more successful on the field/court, this program is perfect for you!

 

Individual Sport-Specific Training (Soccer)

Who: YMCA Members ages 12 years and older
Cost: $25 per hour
Times: Call our Welcome Center to schedule an appointment with Coach Angela. 

 

Small Group Sport-Specific Training  (Soccer)

Who: YMCA Members ages 12 years and older in groups of 2 - 4 players
Cost: $40 per hour for 2 players
         $55 per hour for 3 players
         $70 per hour for 4 players
Times: Call our Welcome Center to schedule an appointment with Coach Angela. 

 

Speed, Strength, & Agility (Group Fitness Class for 7th - 12th Graders)

Coming during the Winter II Session beginning February 19. 
Who:
All Athletes 7th - 12th grade
When: Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Cost: $60 for Members / $100 for Program Participants
Registration: Opens February 12

Meet Coach Angela

Angela Pope is a committed Army wife and mother.  She and her husband, Mike, live in Chillicothe with their 3 children.  Angela was raised in Overland Park, KS where she nurtured a love of soccer beginning at the age of 5.  She began instructing group fitness classes while her husband was stationed at Fort Riley, and she joined the Y's fitness staff in 2015.  She is excited to share her passion for health, fitness, and of course, soccer with a new generation.  Below are just a few of her experiences and qualifications:

  • 18 years of competitive play on numerous premiere Kansas City, teams traveling nationwide
  • 4 Year Varsity Letter at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, KS
  • 4 Year Varsity Letter at University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO
  • 2 Years as Captain in both high school and college
  • Ranked #2 nationally during junior year of high school and ranked in the top ten numerous times throughout high school and college
  • Won 2 State Championships and named Top Career Scorer at Saint Thomas Aquinas
  • Inducted into the UCM Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017
  • Played basketball, track & field, and premiere softball
  • Participated in Strength and Conditioning Training through the CAP program
  • Volunteered at Saint Thomas Aquinas soccer camps
  • Volunteered at University of Central Missouri soccer camps
  • Bachelors of Science in Dietetics from the University of Central Missouri
  • Certified Spin and Beach Body Live instructor.
