Starting with our Annual Shut-Down on July 29, the Grand River Area Family YMCA will begin to move forward with a $545,000 pool renovation project.  We are excited to start the work and cannot wait until we can serve you better with a fully refurbished pool.  Although the pool will be closed during the renovation, the YMCA will reopen on August 6 (after Shut Down) and remain open throughout the renovation.

The project we are undertaking is a complete renovation of our 26-year old pool and chemical room. The work done as part of the renovation will include:

• sandblasting and painting the pool, pool deck, and hot tub
• adding a new filtration and UV disinfecting system
• replacing the chemical feeding system
• updating the electrical system and panel
• installing new pumps and heaters for both the pool and hot tub

These improvements will enhance the look and completely transform the function of the pool ensuring that we are able to continue providing you with a clean, safe pool and an optimal YMCA  experience for many years to come.

We understand that the pool closure will be an inconvenience to many of our members and program participants.  While our goal is to finish the renovations as quickly as possible, we do anticipate that the pool will be closed through August and September.  If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with our Aquatics Director, Carly Carlton, or with any of our Welcome Center staff.
